SustainabilityOur commitment to sustainable development and the circular economy

HortiPack, part of the ILPA Group, operates with the aim of improving the environmental sustainability of the communities and markets in which it operates, in full compliance with European regulations on labour, health, the environment and consumer protection.

Our approach is based on a concrete vision: to reduce our environmental impact and promote a truly circular production model.

Reduction and recycling: the pillars of our environmental policy

We have always aimed to REDUCE the use of raw materials and RECYCLE plastic packaging, so as to reintroduce valuable materials into the production cycle. This commitment translates into a more efficient use of resources, without compromising quality, safety and functionality.

The technique of downgauging, i.e. reducing the weight and thickness of products while maintaining high performance, allows us to achieve environmental and economic benefits, with lower raw material consumption.

Eco-design and certifications

Today, our approach to sustainability is evolving through eco-design, which facilitates closed-loop recyclability, and through the adoption of increasingly rigorous product certifications.

The ILPA Group’s vertical integration of the R-PET supply chain allows for total control of the recycling cycle, thanks to a state-of-the-art plant that processes post-consumer PET bottles and food containers, transforming them into secondary raw material in the form of flakes.

A concrete contribution to the environment

With an annual recycling capacity of 60,000 tonnes of PET, ILIP and the ILPA Group companies contribute to:

  • significantly reducing the environmental impact of recycled products and those placed on the market
  • supporting Italian plastic packaging recycling targets, operating in the heart of Emilia-Romagna
  • promoting the achievement of European circular economy targets
