SustainabilitySustainable development and circular economy

We are one of the European leaders in the production of packaging and transformation of plastic and bioplastic, and we contribute to improving the environmental sustainability of the communities where ILIP is located and acts directly as well as of the markets it serves – all in compliance with the European regulations on labour, health, the environment and consumer protection.

In addition to our policy on the environmental sustainability of our products based on the REDUCTION of use of raw materials and the RECYCLING of plastic packaging to be able to reuse the raw materials with a view to the circular economy, ILIP launches a new Corporate Sustainability Plan and CSR Policies.

The search for an always greater environmental sustainability is inherent in ILIP’s DNA. We are committed to reducing the use of plastic materials on a daily basis by decreasing the thickness and weight of packaging without compromising its performance.

Reducing the weight of packaging (downgauging), without compromising its intended purpose, safety and consumer convenience and hygiene, is environmentally and economically viable.

In addition to reduction, ILIP is now focusing more on eco-design in its sustainability strategy to promote complete closed-loop recyclability and on product certifications. The ILPA Group, of which ILIP is part, is at the forefront of sustainability and the circular economy with the closed loop, because it has vertically integrated the R-PET supply chain and has cutting-edge recycling system, where it processes post-consumer PET food bottles and containers with mechanical recycling, to obtain, according to the canons of the circular economy, secondary raw material in the form of flakes for its own products.

ILIP and the companies of the ILPA Group, with an annual recycling capacity of 60,000t of PET, contribute to

  • reduce the environmental impact of the products they recycle and of those they produce
  • achieve the recycling objectives of Italian plastic packaging, operating in their territory of choice, Emilia-Romagna
  • achieve the objectives of the circular economy in Europe
